Description
I passionately adore the pen and ink illustration etchings and woodcuts of Gustave Dore (1832-1883) so much that I had to pay him tribute by recreating one of my favorite engravings he did from "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" into a mural-size oil painting. The poem written by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1798) was most likely inspired by the Greek classic Homer's Odyssey. My original painting measures 54" x 48" and is beautifully framed by Boston Frame Company. If you appreciate the works of Gustave Dore, or know someone who does, I welcome commissions to re-create any of Gustave Dore's black and white engraving illustrations into a colorful painting of my own vision.
